Complications from Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy can include acid reflux, nausea, vomiting, dehydration, and nutrient deficiencies (especially in iron, calcium, and vitamin B12). In rare cases, more severe complications like leaks from the staple line, infection, or blood clots may occur. Regular follow-ups with healthcare providers help manage these risks.
Weight loss pills include prescription medications like Orlistat (which blocks fat absorption) and over-the-counter supplements marketed to boost metabolism or suppress appetite. While some medications are effective when used correctly, they must be combined with lifestyle changes like diet and exercise for long-term success.
The pre-surgical diet is designed to reduce the size of the liver and optimize the patient’s health before bariatric surgery. Typically high in protein and low in carbohydrates, it often involves consuming liquid protein shakes and limited solid foods for 1 to 2 weeks before surgery. This diet reduces surgical risks and prepares the body for the changes it will undergo post-surgery.
A mini gastric sleeve refers to a less invasive version of the standard sleeve gastrectomy. It’s a simpler procedure that results in a smaller stomach size and helps with long-term weight loss. While not as widely performed, it is an option for those seeking weight-loss surgery with fewer complications.
For some, gastric sleeve surgery has led to complications or unexpected outcomes, resulting in dissatisfaction. While the procedure has a high success rate, there are cases where patients experience serious side effects such as acid reflux, malnutrition, or emotional distress due to rapid weight loss. In some rare instances, complications from surgery can lead to long-term health issues. It's crucial for patients to be well-informed about both the benefits and risks of the surgery before making a decision.

WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) Sleeve Surgery refers to sleeve gastrectomy, a popular bariatric procedure. It is effective for individuals who need to lose a significant amount of weight but prefer a less invasive option than gastric bypass. The surgery reduces the size of the stomach and promotes weight loss by restricting food intake.
Stomach stapling is an older term for bariatric surgery procedures that reduce stomach size. It involves surgically creating a smaller stomach pouch using staples, which limits food intake. Modern techniques like gastric sleeve surgery have replaced traditional stomach stapling, but the principle remains the same—restricting food capacity.
The cost of a gastric sleeve generally ranges from £2,500 to £4,500, depending on the clinic and any additional services included. This price is considerably lower than in the UK, US, or Europe, making Turkey a top choice for medical tourists.
